Today mathematics is related to a very large number of important human activities. Arithmetic –the study of numbers and geometry – the study of shape, size and position are regarded as foundations of math. Just look at everything that surround us and you cannot stop but finding mathematics anywhere you go or anything you see – big buildings, plants, laboratories, museums, hospitals, libraries and shops. My brother is crazy about mathematics and he assured me that there was practically everything in our modern life is based on mathematical calculations. All weird big buildings, long railroads, complicated automobiles, safety airplanes, ships, subways, bridges can exist thanks to mathematics in connection with modern science. He believes that there will be even more things which depend on mathematics – it will have a wider application than it has now.

Being at school my brother received three certificates at his achievements at doing some complex mathematical tests. This fact is very complimentary for his family. Dad likes to compare my brother with a computer which is able to make any calculations. Mathematical world is full of beautiful and challenging problems, many of which are very important for people. That is why saying by my brother’s words, mathematics is a truly universal servant of mankind.
